We hope that this information, firstly, will make you smile, and secondly, will help you with your trip to Russia or with your Russian friends or colleagues .

Contrary to the general impression, Russians are not gloomy and rough, and certainly not evil. It's just that in Russia it's not common to smile at strangers .

Російські практично не говорять по-англійськи (хоча молоде покоління справляється краще), проте вони завжди раді поспілкуватися з іноземцями. Особливо їм подобається вчити їх своєї мови.

Russians hardly speak English (although the younger generation cope better), but they are always glad to communicate with foreigners . They especially like to teach them their language.

Якщо вас запросили в гості, не плануйте нічого на вечір. Ви там будете довго. Вважайте, що ви прийняті в російське суспільство, якщо ви сидите пізно ввечері на російській кухні з їжею і алкоголем і філософствуете. Будьте готові до більш тривалим і глибоким особистим розмов.

If you are invited to somebody's house, do not plan anything for the evening. You will be there for a long time. Consider that you are accepted in Russian society, if you are sitting late at night in a Russian kitchen with food , And philosophizing. Be prepared for long and deep personal conversations.

Якщо ви прийшли в гості, вам доведеться зняти взуття і одягнути капці . Якщо вам їх не запропонували, можливо, це поганий знак.

If you came to somebody's house, you will have to take off your shoes and put on the "tapochkee". If you are not offered the "tapochkee", maybe it's a bad sign.

Якщо вас запросили в гості, приносите з собою цукерки, квіти або пляшку алкоголю. Ніколи не відмовляйтеся від запрошення в гості або на дачу . Саме в гостях ви по-справжньому дізнаєтеся людей.

If you are invited to somebody's house, bring with you some chocolates, flowers or a bottle of alcohol. Never refuse an invitation to visit people in their house or at the "dacha". You really get to know people while visiting them in their house .

Справжній російський виїжджає на дачу (літній будинок). Картопля і овочі садять і поливаються. Чоловіки готують «шашлик», жінки - салати. Останнім часом люди будують дачі на цілий рік, але часто сім'ї їдуть на дачу тільки на літо.

Real Russians go to the dacha (summer cottage). Potatoes and vegetables are planted and watered. Men prepare "barbecue", and women make salads. In recent years, people build cottages for all year round, but often families go to the dacha only for the summer .

Коли даруєте квіти, даруйте непарне їх кількість. Парна кількість квітів російські носять на кладовища.

When giving flowers, give an odd number of them. An even number of flowers is only brought to the cemetery by Russians .

Мало роботи робиться в другій половині грудня, першій половині січня і в першій половині травня, під час свят. Заздалегідь складайте розклад, знаючи, що багато в ці дні не на роботі. Це найгірший час для планування зустрічей.

A little work is done in the second half of December , the first half of January, and the first half of May, during the holidays. Organize your schedule knowing that many of these days are holidays . This is the worst time to schedule appointments.

Пам'ятайте про 8 березня, Міжнародний жіночий день. Якщо ви працюєте в Росії або в команді з росіянами, не забувайте дарувати жінкам подарунки і вітати в цей день.

Remember about 8 of March, International Women's Day. If you are working in Russia or with a Russian team , do not forget to give gifts or flowers to women and congratulate them on this day .
