song Me and My Guitar (Mən və mənim gitaram). The song has been written by Ukrainian composer Dmitry Saratsky (mostly known for his stage plays and musicals) and Azerbaijani songwriter Murad Arif (composer, producer, TV & Radio host).

Rustam was born in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on August 18th, 2003. He was only two years when he started to sing, and then understood that the music was his calling. The boy has arranged real family concerts, where he performed songs from the cartoon films. In the kindergarten he quickly became all kids 'music hero and in the school he was already the top star at all concerts.
In 2011 Rustam entered the Rashid Beybutov Music School to study piano. But Rustam's true passions are drums and guitar. By his 10 years anniversary Rustam has already had an experience of performing with the real symphonic orchestra! ( "It was really very cool", says Rustam, who performed piano concerto of N.Silvanskiy together with State Symphonic Orchestra). This young actor has also performed at the 80th anniversary concert in honor of Rashid Beybutov Music School (where he performed Stevie Wonder song) and at the Gala concert in honor of national Children's Day.
Rustam says music overflows him from the inside and it sounds in his head almost all the time! There is no wonder his school diary regularly says: "Was singing at the class!".
Rustam is a huge fan of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Muslim Magomayev and Rashid Beybutov. Rustam admires their manner of performance and dreams to follow their success in his music career. He loves to experiment of stage and, therefore, prefers such musical styles as soul, jazz, and pop.
Apart from music Rustam is also engaged in sport dancing, folk dancing, and drawing. In addition to this, he is an excellent roller skater. Once Rustam together with his grandmother have created a gallery of handmade crafts from natural materials.
This ten-year-old pupil knows well already who he wants to be in the future. Rustam's challenge is to combine career of a surgeon, a sound engineer, and a singer! He gets inspirations from his parents: his mother has a medical education and father is a sound engineer.
Rustam is also a great fan of the Eurovision Song Contest. He was incredibly happy when in 2012 his hometown Baku has hosted Europe's most loved music event. And he did not stand beside! Rustam has performed at various concert events during the Eurovision week 2012.
As soon as Rustam turned ten, he immediately applied for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013 and was chosen to represent his country. This will be a debut vocal competition for Rustam. But little stage experience does not stop Azerbaijani contestant.
First and foremost Rustam wants to try something new in life and to enjoy his participation and performance. "I'm worried only on the backstage but when I appear on the stage - I always bliss out!" - says Rustam. By being so sincere, charismatic and charming Rustam is ready to inspire all the audience with the positive energy and to give the new song to the world.

Рустам народився в Баку, столиці Азербайджану, 18го серпня 2003 року. Він почав співати, коли йому було всього два роки, і незабаром зрозумів, що саме музика є його покликанням. Він організовував справжні сімейні концерти, де виконував пісні з улюблених мультфільмів. У дитячий садок він швидко став музичним кумиром всіх дітей, а в школі - головною зіркою всіх концертів.

У 2011 році Рустам поступив в Музичну Школу їм Р.Бейбутова по класу фортепіано. Але справжньою пристрастю Рустама є барабани і гітара. Рустам - великий шанувальник Майкла Джексона, Стіві Вандера, Лайонела Річі, Мусліма Магомаєва і Рашида Бейбутова. Рустам захоплюється їх манерою виступи та мріє добитися такого ж успіху в музичній кар'єрі. Він любить експериментувати на сцені, і тому віддає перевагу таким музичні стилі, як соул, джаз і поп.

Крім музики, Рустам також займається спортивним танцем, народним танцем і малює. Він також відмінно катається на роликах. Одного разу Рустам разом зі своєю бабусею створив галерею предметів ручної роботи з природних матеріалів.

- Head of delegation Husniyye Maherramova has informed my mother that I was chosen for the contest, and then my mom told me. Of course, I was very pleased, since I have always wanted to participate in the "Junior Eurovision" and now my dream came true. The first thing I asked my mother after I found out the good news: "And with what flight will we fly to Kiev?" (Laughs).
- Of the Azerbaijani participants of Eurovision I like Eldar Gasimov the most. We are acquainted with him for a long time, and it was him, in a duet with Nigar Jamal, who has brought our country victory in the competition, resulting in hosting of Eurovision 2012 in Azerbaijan. In addition to Running Scared I like also the song of Farid Mammadov - Hold me.
- "Me and my guitar", clearly, is the song about me. The fact that the character finds school lessons boring, and that he behaves badly and wants only to sing and dance (laughs). I liked the song as soon as I heard it. Indeed I'm a big prankster, who often sings in class.
- I have many favorite songs, but there are two that I like the most and sing more often. They are Is not she lovely by Stevie Wonder and Hello by Lionel Richie. My dad, sound engineer, instilled in me a love for good music, especially jazz, which I love very much. In jazz music, I would single out Marcus Miller. Also, I listen to classical music - Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Liszt.
- I want to glorify my native Azerbaijan, to represent our country well on the international stage, and to win the competition. Plus, participation in the competition is already a great creative experience. I realize the responsibility and will do everything to live up to my expectations. I'm not afraid of difficulties that may arise during the preparation, but I'm very afraid that my final place in the contest will be lower than fifth. However, I will do everything depending on me to win the "Junior Eurovision - 2013"!

- Уснія Магеррамова повідомила про те, що я переміг на відборі моїй мамі, а мама сказала мені. Дуже зрадів, так як завжди хотів взяти участь в «Дитячому Євробаченні», і моя заповітна мрія здійснилася. Перше, що я запитав у мами після того, як дізнався радісну звістку: «А яким рейсом ми летимо до Києва?» (Посміхається).
- З учасників Євробачення від Азербайджану мені найбільше подобається Ельдар Касумов. Ми з ним давно і добре знайомі, і адже саме він в дуеті з Нігяр Джамал приніс нашій країні перемогу на конкурсі, в результаті чого «Євробачення» в 2012 році відбулося в Азербайджані. Не боюсь труднощів, які можуть виникнути в період підготовки, але дуже боюся, що моє підсумкове місце на конкурсі буде нижче п'ятого. Однак я зроблю все залежне від мене, щоб перемогти на «Дитячому Євробаченні - 2013»!

He has informed that during preselection castings have performed two foreign songs. Rustam has already listened to JESC 2013 entries and names Russian one as his favourite. "It is strong and interesting song", he says.

"Being honest, I'm worried behind the scenes. But when I go on stage, worries calm down and I enjoy it", he says. "The mood is good, I'm seriously preparing for the performance now, and want everyone to remember me. Of course, I would like to win and to get Junior Eurovision to Baku", adds Rustam. "But this contest will be also a big school for me, as it give opportunity to learn a lot and work with many experienced teachers.

Murad Arif, songwriter, says that he did the lyrics in one day and handled it over: "Husniye has aproached me and said she is casting the lyrics for one children song. I have listened to it and a story came to my mind - about a naughty kid, who do not want to study, because he wants to do only music and become a superstar who will have huge number of fans. I wrote a lyrics in one day, though usually I may spend weeks on one song. The lyrics and title should have been simple, using a lexicon of modern children. At that time I had no idea who will be singing the song, whether it fits his voice. For myself I have just created image of the kid, a bit similar to myself, as I also disliked school but liked music. When I saw the music video, I found out that it is Rustam singing it. He is a very talented boy, and a spirit of leadership can be felt at him. I wish him to become star of Eurovision! "

Husniye says that they have already started working on Rustam's stage performance and want it to be clrear and professional. He will deliver a simple but enjoyable show.

Ми віддали пріоритет дітям, які займаються в музичних школах, оскільки вирішили, що краще, щоб наш представник мав деякими музичними знаннями. Однак, були і діти, яких приводили самостійно. There are also "two big secrets" who may still join the contest if they complete official paperwork by the deadline of 1st of November. Their participation is not guaranteed, they are still in talks with EBU. In case they fail to confirm participation and submit entry in due time, EBU is ready to organize contest with 10 or 11 countries anyway.

Update: EBU has confirmed receiving official confirmation of participation from Azerbaijan on 18th of October.

Їх участь не є гарантованим, з ними все ще ведуться переговори. У разі, якщо їм так і не вдасться завершити роботу над паперами, ЄВС готовий проводити конкурс і з 10-11 країнами.

На даний момент, офіційної заявки про участь Азербайджаном в ЄВС ще подано не було.

Як і у випадку з Молдовою, швидше за все Азербайджанському мовника буде дано право зняти свою заявку до листопада, якщо до того часу не буде обрана конкурсу пісня.
